Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or oil

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • whisker
  • Non-stick frying pan or griddle
  • Ladle or scoop
  • measuring cups

Method

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk well so everything is evenly combined.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth and fully combined.
  3. Combine mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy — do not overmix.
  4. Rest the batter: Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes. This helps the pancakes become lighter and fluffier.
  5. Cook pancakes: Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it. Pour batter onto the pan using a ladle. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set, then flip carefully.
  6. Finish cooking: Cook the other side until golden brown and fully cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Serve warm: Serve immediately with syrup, butter, fruits, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Use fresh baking powder for the fluffiest pancakes.
  • Don't overmix the batter, a few lumps are perfectly fine.
  • Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes before cooking.
  • Cook over medium heat for evenly golden pancakes.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture.
